IES Manuel Sanchis Guarner is a state secondary school located in the South of Valencia, Spain. It is located in Castelló de
Rugat, a small inland town not further than 30 kilometres from the coast. The town has a population of about 2.500
inhabitants, and stands out for being peaceful and being surrounded by natural settings. Our high school hosts 12 to 18
year-old students from 10 different nearby rural villages. The economy of the families depends on the industry, the tertiary
sector and the countryside; thus, most families have a medium-low socioeconomic status. The area where our school is
located offers few employment opportunities, leading to an increase in the risk of depopulation. Our organizations host a
total of 290 students and 40 teachers, which evidences that we are a small school. This fact has determined our
participation in Erasmus+ projects. Despite this, our school has been and still is a role model in this area (academic results,
low drop out rate).
